DM 500 or 7020?

I'm thinking about getting a DM 500 or 7020. I have a background in linux/unix. Would like to hear from anyone regarding which box is a better choice. Also would like to hear pros/cons vs something like the Sonic View 4000 (which I already run). The SV4000 has a great GUI and amazing picture. Is this the same situation from a DM 500 or 7020?
