I've been wating patiently, but since all the coolsat's except the 6100, 5000, and 4000's got their fixes on friday, and there's been no other coolsat updates since then, i'm starting to wonder if fixes for the older boxes are going to come at all. Does anyone know one way or the other? I just need to know if i should get some new boxes. Thanks.

all I can say is that if you not like the wait for new bins then yes...invest in a new one that has better support I guess

My advice is to upgrade just like a computer..they get better and faster every day. So every year or so fork out a couple a hundred bucks do some research and you get to play with a new toy. I was getin sick of the 232 umbilical cord anyhow... USB much Better

I have a cs 5000 and I'm not sure where you seen a new bin or if I misunderstood what you said,as far as I know the last bin out for cs 5000 was bin 170 which is not working at the moment. But if you know if there is in fact a new bin for cs 5000 can you please let me know where you found it?Thanks in advance.

I doubt they will discontinue the bin writing... slow it down.... yes... indirectly forcing you to upgrade.

Will I upgrade my CS5K ??

Yes... but the only upgrade to undergo when you are being forced to is.....

Go with a different company :)
Many companies out there that provide support for their STBs....

All one needs to do is choose ;)

I can't imagine a companys upper management being so stupid to think that by not supporting what people have paid good money for that they will be able to sell them a new upgraded box that in six months or a year will lose support for also, DUH coolsat , they should change their name to FOOLSAT

the harsh reality is harsh....broke down today and picked up a Viewsat Ultra...eventhough everything went down today, i'm sure from their recent track record they'll be up before coolsat gives me a fix for my 5k's for the last ecm:eek:
TESTING: Viewsat Ultra
HOLDING MY DOOR OPEN: 1 Coolsat 5K
COFFEE TABLE COASTER: 2 Coolsat 5K's

I felt extremely lucky to get 70.00 for my cs 5000 on ebay. It did have a card reader but the Vs is very nice.

Have had a CS5K for a long time, never let me down once, watched the support get less and less as time has gone on. It's a shame because its a well built unit but being forced to upgrade usually turns into switching to another brand. I have owned a mini for a year and its even better, Not just for support but quality of pic and sound as well. and yes loosing the umbilical cord is a must.

just my three cents

I would like to see the members Boycott all FAILSAT products,we supported them when they entered the FTA business, but they don't seem to want to support us.
Upon checking their website,I see they are trying to break into the GPS market.
This may help them as "THEY HAVE OBVIOUSLY LOST THEIR WAY"

You can say goodbye to the Coolsat 4000, 5000, and 6000. I have the 4000 and 5000 and they have been two of the best. However, when upgrading to another receiver I didn't buy Coolsat because of their terrible support. I know both receivers have paid for themselves many times over, but I just can't see buying something from a company (no matter how many manufacturers) that lets their customers down. The Viewsat Extreme was released about the same time as the Coolsat 5000 and they still provide excellent support. Too bad for Coolsat!

I have just upgraded to VSpro, it is in the mail. This should guarantee files being released soon. I always get hooped when I buy something new. I have gotten every cent out of my CS5k so no hard feelings it has been a great box for the price. Over 2 years of fair to good support. I will definitely not get rid of it b/c it was up at times when none of the others were.

My 2 cents

Good support? Quit being so nice, I've had a cs5k for 1 year and the support has been fair to the s@#%'s. Aways slow. Mabey when cs pulls thier heads out of somewhere for a breath of fresh air they are bankrupt. I mean that in the best possible way...not. If nothing by saturday, hello cw 800.
p.s. great site!

Yeah, no sense bashing just sit tight and see what happens. Maybe it wont happen but I think it will. Even if it does looks like if you have a CS5000 you should think of getting something else. Long time between fixes on these.

If not, you still got a nice box for FTA. Get a 30" dish and a motor and your watching lots of free tv.

why is it that there is no definite answer from cs about there being no fix for 3 weeks or whatever. A simple yes we are supporting it or no time to buy another box. In my opinion it is bs that this has not been done. Somebody with cs connections must have read comments made about eveybody flogging thier cs's for another one on 1 of the forums.
