I have three of the Captain 8000HD and love them. But I do have one of them that when you power on says BOOT on the front display and nothing else no picture to the T.V. so unable to update. Any ideas how to fix? Thanks for the help.

Has this one ever worked right?
I'd say get a factory bin back on it, then do a factory reset, reset everything then rescan.
Make sure you use the new loader and newest 609 file, and make sure it fully loads and reboots itself before ya stop it.
Let us know if that works out

ok to get it off stuck on boot...you must load the factory file using the new loader ..1.25 ..the older loader will not let you load the factory file when stuck on boot

Will try loading through serial cable as no display to T.V., worked fine with original bin, loaded latest and this happened. Not a bin problem though as the other three are working great. Awesome receiver for the price. This site is also great by the way. Good information and quick updates. Thanks guys will let you know how it works out.

Hey just angel, thanks buddy. Factory flashed to original file with serial cable and working like a dream again. Got so used to the newer units with USB almost forgot about serial cable updates....lol Thanks again buddy.

Hey Angel and Crazy,

Don't know if you've noticed, but the NEW Captain Loader, (when downloaded) will still say that it is Version 1.24. As you know, it operates differently (better) than the previous version. Just don't want the members to get confused.

Cheers gin ;)

When you say it doesn't want to load anything, are you getting an error message?

Make sure you download and use v1.25 (Cause it still says v1.24 in the top bar).

Have you ever downloaded to this unit via serial cable? or USB stick?

Let us know

This is blndbt2. I have the same problem. Sticks on "Boot". I've gone thru everything you have said to do - with serial cable and USB stick. Think I may have a bad receiver. Had a lot of problems with it.

I don't get any "error". Just "BOOT" , or "boot" after I load anything. When I shut it down in the back and turn it back on while holding down the on button on the front. I get "500" , "----". and "boot". I've done everything you said to do... Have all the new down loads and new factory settings. Have to use the serial cable. USB stick, I don't think has ever worked on this receiver, no matter how many times I've tried it. My son was here this summer and he couldn't make it work either. He has 2 Captain 8000HD's that he got after I got this one and he hasn't had any problems with his. I was doing fair with this one until I down loaded 620.

I have tried everything I can think of and everything I've read. Think I just have a lemon. Ordered another one today, and guess I'll just use this dead one for a door stop. Can't find the paper work when I bought it, nor box it came in, out of Canada in July this year. I liked the Captain8000HD when it was working. It was head and shoulders over the PANSAT 2500A I had last time.

I finally got it going... For the last 2 days I've gone thru all the previous combinations of BINs to load. V609 finally kicked in even tho I had used it before. Re-entered V620 and now have everything back - ppv, porn (which I don't care about at my age). I already ordered another Captain 8000HD because the one I have is a lemon and has been since I got it. It will make a good door stop with my PANSAT 2500A. Thanks for the help anyway.

When I do get mine going, it works for a few hours. Then when I change channels it freezes and then hangs up on boot again. Nothing you have said to do is working anymore. Think I'll send it back... Been this way 5 months now.

Hello:

My Captain 8000 is still stuck on boot despite repeating the process you describe several times. I held on to the power buttom on the STB, I turned the switch at the back to ON. Held onto the power button for about 5-10 seconds. The STB screen did display "A500" and then "----".

I released the power button and then press it again -- I got the "boot" message but beyond that nothing is happening. The screen is showing that the receiver is in boot mode and nothing is happening beyond this point.

I even tried the very process using the cable but I am having the same problem.

Appreciate any further suggestions.

Here's what worked for me!!! Try it!!!

Coax cable connected or not -- don't think it matters -- I disconnected mine.

While holding onto the power buttom on the STB, I turned the switch at the back to ON. Held onto the power button for about 5-10 seconds. STB screen displays "A500" and then "----".

Release the power button and then press it again -- the STB will turn on. I get the "boot" message and the STB is alive again.

Then you can go about to load factory and any other BIN as you please. I actually loaded the BIN's using a flash drive but I'm sure it would work with a Null cable as well.

When flashing with the USB, I had to rename the new BIN to "APP_7710_down.BIN" otherwise I couldn't load the BIN.

^ Wow compliacted..... I just re-load the bin with the 1.25 loader... no goofing around....

This has worked for meabout a half dozen times... without a failure...

You have to do a blind scan. and re-scan for channels...

Sounds like it's not setup..

Maybe you're in the wrong video mode. Have you tried pressing the Step button to change the video resolution? Maybe it's your TV saying unsupported Mode? My samsung LCD says that when I'm in 480i mode.

What does the LED display say on your STB?

If the unit is stuck with the menu on... Just switch off from the back, and re-load the bin...

Try that

Hey guys and girls,I have the same problem where it is stuck on boot and while it is stuck in boot nothing is functional on machine. I usually load by USB because my new computer has no serial port so I had to order a adapter for my 232 serial cable.
So what you guys are saying is once I load the Factory file via serial cable the boot status will go away Right?
