Channel change lag

Hey folks... I am wondering if it is something I did wrong, or just how the system works, but when i switch channels on my SV8000HD, it seems to take forever for the channels to actually come on... is this how the system works, or do I have some other issues I need to deal with?

Also... (can I threadjack my own post? Hmmm...) I am having a lot of audio problems... I am getting video and audio for a short period of time... the picture freezes, and when it comes back, no audio... or only video and no audio from the moment I change to the channel (this is mostly for the northern birds).

Thanks again... am interested to see if anyone else is having similiar problems.
