I'm as new as one can get to FTA. When downloading VO285P, VO284P, etc.. I don't understand the difference.
On another matter, why can't I see any HD channels after doing a sat scan.

HD channels on DN needs an adapter...
on BEV no need for adapter
files are released to fix blackout issues or to fix bugs...
u don't load the whole list of files...only the latest released..
and i suggest you do some reading in the support section ...u'll find many answers to ur questions...

ty for that info, just noticed there is a more recent file, so will download that one tonight. I've been trying to read up on the HD channels for BEV but still can't understand why they don't register after a sat scan

BEV HD channels are on Nimiq2 (82W) so if you dont have a dish aimed there you will not get any HD

Or you could re-aim your dish to 82 or you could get a dish with 2 lnbs so you could pick up 82/91 simultaniously.

I think i need to read up more on this....no wait, I KNOW i have to read up more on this. I have a dish with two lnbs, each one hooked up to a receiver, both on 91. How would I get 91 on one and 82 on the other? Is this where a diseqc switch comes in?

Depends on what dish you have. Can you identify the dish and lnbs?

what you probably have is a single lnb with dual connectors.if your dish is equipped with a skew adjustment you can get a dual head or add another single head and target 82&91 on the same dish.a little trickier to tune in but can be done with a little patience.(not a strength amongst many of us)

all the new dishes have a adjustment on the back of the dish to rotate the dish.it also should have a y bracket on the arm to take a second lnb.you will nave to run another co-ax also.

The dish already has a y adapter with an lnb that has two co-ax ports and the other side is empty. Does this mean all I need is another lnb for that other side of the adapter to get 82?

after you add another lnb you should run 2 more co-ax in being your running 2 boxes.you will also need 2 diseq switches or 2 sw-24. 1 sw 44 switch would probably be best as it has amplifier built in and gives you output to 4 machines.the satfinder section here can give you skew ,angle and compass heading from your postal code to target your dish.you will have to retarget.these numbers are a starting point and you have to fine tune from there.if you have a bev reciever they are a little more sensitive and re-act quicker for signal finding than fta's.good luck& pack a couple on ice cause tuning dual heads can get frustrating
