I am beginning to think this STB I have is jinxed. Finally three weeks after I first set this box up and after many hours of trying I actually got it to deliver some programming. I then thought it would be time to tackle setting up the PVR. I bought a 250GB Western Digital SATA II, 7200RPM hard drive in an external case.
I set it up according to instructions I had received on the site. I go into the main menu. Go to PVR. USB Drives. OK. The box recognises the hard drive as there. I press the green button to format the drive. I then get the parental lock pop up. I do 0000 I am then told, all data will be destroyed+yes. I click OK. I then select EXT2 file system (for recording) then down one arrow to, Format start. I press OK. It says Format begins then it pops up "format failed" with an OK and check mark. I then try to go through the process again and it says "No device connected" I disconnected then re-connected everything but it stayed the same. I checked all three USB ports with a memory stick and they are all read fine. I connect the hard drive to my computer and my computer does not see it either. I took the hard drive back to where I bought it and the guy there re-set it for me to FAT 32. I brought it home and tried to format it again for PVR and exactly the same thing happened. The main reason I bought this machine was for it's so called "superior" PVR capabilities. If this is superior performance then god save us from inferior ones. It would seem, given the other posts I have read in here I am not the only one having problems with this make and model STB.

Mines says i have a damaged file system. I have only had the box a couple of weeks. Will not scan disk or format. Frustrating for sure when you work a 12hr shift and want to record your shows for future enjoyment.

Is there any support available for this problem?

try downloading SwissKnife and formating the drive to fat32 with that, then connect it to the box and do a scan disk if its not happy with it as it is.

sometimes you will have to power the box off and back on again to get it to run a scan without failing. also in my experiance it will not find a drive that is not fat16/32 or ext2 formated so it has to be one of the 3 before connecting it to the box.
