1) Remove both batteries, and insure there's no 'plastic' wrap covering the battery clips.
2) Use an alligator clip and short the + and - terminals for 30 secs or so. The correct terminals are the two at the BOTTOM of the remote as you look at it from the back side. After 30 secs, remove the "short".
* If want to see what the voltage is, a voltmeter will show about 2.6Vdc before the "short" is applied. This is due to the charge on a 'storage' cap.
3) replace the batteries.
The remote should now control the CS. If it doesn't then it probably needs to be exchanged.
One more thing to check: If you pushed the stb button and light does not come on, place a piece of tin foil at the positive end of each battery and see if it fixes the problem. The positive terminal can become "mashed" and cause no connection. There is a spring on the negative terminals so not much chance of a bad connection there.
