View Full Version : Getting nothing - need to setup SV again

Hi gents,

After this 212 bin I stopped getting signal... there is simply nothing...

so I loaded the factory bin for the SV 4000 and then the 212.... after that I scanned Echostar 7 and 6/8 and not even 1 channel came up. I later on tried the same procedure but loaded bin 181 instead, and it picked up several channels, but no image..:noclue:

Am I doing something wrong?
It has been working great for almost a year now, and I've had no issues with previous updates ... so I'm clueless as to what may have caused this.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
:chicken:

Sounds like your dish settings may be off. Do you have signal and quality on echo7 and 6/8?

no signal or quality on 212...

in the menu under installation. check your dish settings and make sure they are correct.

:) that's the problem brother, I have no idea what settings are the correct ones! The ones that are there are the default ones.

I had someone else install it for me a year ago - should've paid attention :(

do you know what kind of lnb's you have or if you have a switch?

OK,since you lost settings, the factory flash did that..here are the basic settings but your LNBs and diseQc settings may be different for 110
LNB Power ON
LNB Type Standard
LNB Frequency 11250
Transponder 12224
22KHz OFF
Search Option All
Network Search ON
DiSEqC Port 1
Motor OFF
Legacy Switch OFF

For 119
LNB Power ON
LNB Type Standard
LNB Frequency 11250
Transponder 12239
22KHz OFF
Search Option All
Network Search ON
DiSEqC Port 2
Motor OFF
Legacy Switch OFF

hmm I know I have a 'splitter' up there to merge the cables that come from the 2 dishes, one of which has 2 'heads' (sorry about the 'not so tech' terms).. if it that means anything.

EDIT:

Will try that Al

No luck on either.

Both have 0 Strength and 0 Quality :(

I'm screwed, aren't I?

Sounds like a Dish pro series LNB?If you dont get a signal with LNB's on Standard, try OSC-DP
110 will have quality on TP 12224
119 will have it on 12239,then your ready to scan..A little box in upper right corner tells you what your locked onto.

And check out this "read me"

try ocs-dp 11250 try that for sure.

Keep trying, you'll get it.

I'm currently with these settings:

LNB Pwr: On
LNB type: OSC-DP
LNB Frq: 11250
Transponder: 12239
22khz: Off
Search Opt: All
Net. Search: On
DiSEqC: Port 2
Motor: Disabled
Legacy Switch: Off

I have tried the following combinations:

LNB Pwr: On
LNB type: Single/ and Universal
LNB Frq: 11250
Transponder: 12224 /and 12239
22khz: Off
Search Opt: All
Net. Search: On
DiSEqC: Port 2 /and Port 1
Motor: Disabled
Legacy Switch: Off

Now, shouldn't I get signal just by switching to the correct setting? Cause I get nothing from all the things I tried so far. :(

If you guys need me to go to the roof to check something, I'll gear up and go... lol

no luck on any setting - I've tried all ports

Could it be the bin? Cause I've loaded the factory one, then the latest 212P...

no luck on any setting. I tried reloading just the 212, and when that didn't work I tried from scratch, then loaded 212 and tried a bunch of different settings...

I don't know what else to do.

Is the cable coming from the dish hooked up to the right input on the back of the box?

you should be getting something for signal and quality if you mess with the settings long enough.

Unless the dish has been moved by wind or is blocked with snow or some other obstruction.

Pete might be right...

am suspecting u have the cable hooked up in the wrong input on the receiver...

one more thing u can do ...can u take some pictures of ur dish & switch and post here?

pgama

I will do that Nokia.

As for the cabling, nothing has changed in a year. The only thing I did was load the latest bin 212 a couple days ago. I actualy tried the 181 for a few minutes (working on and off) and then loaded the 212, and have been getting nothing since then.

I'll post the pictures soon. Thx a bunch guys

k did you say your switch has 2 inputs and one out

if so try using the sw switch setting and not the diseqc..

Ok, here are the dishes:

This is where the cable is connecting to the box, and it has always been there:

And these are some of the settings that I have tried, none of which get signal/quality.

Tried all 4 suggestions and nothing.

I think that somehow the dishes moved a little, either due to the snow or wind or a huge bird (lol).

I would like to thank you ALL that posted here and that tried to help me; thanks to people like you this forum ROCKS!!

Now I'm going to try and find someone to point those dishes for me (it's gonna be like looking for a mint condition used car) :(

Thanks again fellaz!!

Pedro

Well, there is a switch/splitter thing up there that merges all 3 cables coming from the dishes, then a single cable comes down from that switch to the receiver.

pgama
02-20-2008, 07:20 PM
Well, I thought I was getting DN only. I know that one of the dishes is pointing south (?) or southeast and the other slightly southwest.

If I remember correctly, one was to get portuguese channels, I may be wrong.

So you're saying that the receiver will differentiate which port on the switch/splitter each dish connects to?

Ace Rimmer

So you're saying that the receiver will differentiate which port on the switch/splitter each dish connects to?

yes . thats why it has port settings, they are for different output ports on the diseqc switch

one more thing...

that switch that u have might be fried...

u better get a good quality Diseq switch ... Chieta or EMP specialy if its kept outside

pgama
02-20-2008, 08:28 PM
I've been trying all sort of combinations for the past 1h30, no luck.

I got sporadic signal strength, but after a couple seconds it went away. On those occasions it was not possible to establish a pattern.

I took a pic of one of the spikes (only got like 3 this whole time)

do you have another STB or a dish ird you can hook up to test with ? or maybe a buddy who has something

NOKIA™
02-20-2008, 08:34 PM
the way to test ...

remove the switch and connect one cable from one LNB direct to receiver

use the single or standard LNB type and check for signal

try the dish with the single LNB in the PIC... i think thats the Echostar 3 61.5W that has the International channels.

if u get signal & quality if hooked directly ..then ur switch is fucked and u need a new switch anyways

pgama

Unfortunately I don't Ace.

I think that your suggestion may be right on, NOKIA. That switch may be fried.

In the event that it is, where can I get a good one here in TO (if you could PM me some ideas that would be great, giving the fact that we're in the same city :P )

I'll try to perform these suggested testing scenarios tomorrow.

I should get someone to film while I go up there - it should be fun with all the snow/ice and all. lol

I sense great comic material :D

Hey guys.

So I had the switch replaced and everything is working now. I get signal on 61.5, 110 and 119 as I should - now I know the correct settings for whenever needed. DN is up and looking great with bin 212.

I've learned a lot these past few days, and all thanks to you guys.

Thanks again to all of you that tried to help me and contributed to finding problem.
