2).Cloning from another unit, even if unit is a clone you can use a extreme or platinum model to repair the dead unit.

a. Load working unit with factory file 2061 or 2067
b. Once loaded hook up Null cable to working unit, then to dead one, with power switch off.
c. On hooked up unit to Tv ,setup :
Menu>Installation>Reciever upgrade

e. Progress will showup on TV,Turn I/O switch to ON postion on dead unit.(Watch for download to start). If No progress.Start over steps (d) and (i).

h. Lights will not come back on front panel until unit is rebooted.
i. Turn off dead unit first, then click EXIT from working veiwsat exit completely out of screen back to channels.
j. Turn dead unit back on ,display lights will come back on front panel, and unit will say REBOOT/INST./0000/NoChan
k. Unit is ready to reload new main bin file.

3). This works on all veiwsat products,if (fail) at any point restart procedure at any point. If it doesnt check to make sure null cable to Veiwsat are connected tightly, then try again.

4). If unit sits and does nothing wait 10 minutes, still nothing.Stop and unhook power source (Remeber safetly first) remove case and check fuse with meter.Fuse is a T2A_250v.

5). Replace fuse and retry steps again.

6). If still nothing after replacing fuse the unit is truely dead, and is time to send back to Vender for replacement.

Here is an Up-date

A group of us are working on a new procedure to repair dead viewsat unit.
Again this is NOT for (clone's) nor for (0000) issue's.But completely dead units,or units that have the so called (flu).

These units, one platinum, one extreme so far have had faulty flashes or where dead out of the box.We have isolated the module's that have low voltage out put, also 3 transisor that have dead shorts thur the motherboard.

This is causing the motherboard to ground-out.
Meaning:
If you run a screwdriver alone the bottom of the unit, the LCD dis-play will try and work. But this action produces funny characteristic's,symbols with no real meaning appear.

Also if you un-plug the lead cable from the LCD screen the samething will appear, this does not mean the unit is coming back to life.Becuase what we do know is the Ads-chipset is (looped) because of what we believe to be a bad factory flash or weak chipset.

We are going to be replacing the chipset, and also jtagging the motherboards.Have completed the cable set-up needed, and have both hardware and software.

Up-Date Oct 3, 06
We are also trying leaving on the Viewsat box,we have two boxes stacked ontop of each other w/3 working boxes to heat them up,so far temp@112* degree's.Boxes, both now display numbers on LVD panel, not sure yet if heating up we cause boxes to (re-boot).But trying this as an Alterntive.

Again we still believe the units can be save without a trip back to viewsatusa, and the 75.00 fee they are charging. We are hoping to complete a procedure within the next few weeks, stay tuned will keep up-dates going.

There are three main problems:
1) with DBPSW_060923AS it has to completely (End/Boot) after you load the file causing the EPPROM to fail. This causes a (LOOP) in the Ads-Chipset.
2)Power Supply short while flashing box, excessively turning OFF and ON I/O switch.
3) and finally (3) small transistor (weak) from Viewsat will short the motherboard out to a dead ground.

Here again none of these problems can be repair with any procedure at home,it takes a trip back to the factory.
