Greetings all. I am having a few problems setting up my Elite 360.
I have two dishes one regular 18" round and the other an elliptical dish.
The round dish has one circular twin LNB aimed at 82W. The elliptical dish has 3 circular twin LNBs on a bracket aimed at 91W 110W & 119W. I have a single cable from each LNB into a 4x1 DISEQ switch. From there a single cable into the house then into the STB. I initially set up the STB using the instructions posted in here. Where my problems arise is in scanning the satellites. 82W seems to be OK with good strength and quality signals and I get bev channels. When I try to scan 91W however it shows a strength of only 64 and 0 quality. I try a scan anyway but nothing shows on screen re channel numbers etc then it says, failed. When I try to scan 110W & 119W it goes through the motions and 110W shows a signal strength of 72 and a quality at 91. I scan the sat and it seems to be working fine it gets to 516 channels plus lots of radio channels then gives out the message, "failed". 119W shows a signal strength of 72 and a quality of 98 but then does exactly the same thing except it only gets up to 414 channels then it fails. I have tried saving the results but it does not seem to work as I can get no DN channels at all. I have checked the DISECQ switch and it seems to be OK. I have also read lots of the forum help in here but could not find anyone with a similar problem. Also could anybody tell me if you are supposed to upload both the bin file and the fix file into the STB?
All assistance will be most appreciated. Thank you. FF.

The only file I uploaded to the STB was the SV360elite_vo159Pcharliefixed092908zip.
I unzipped the file then transferred it to my usb stick. I then entered it into the STB. There was two items on the stick. The fix file and something called, SV360EchanF Bin file. I did not put that one into the STB. Should I have done?
Sorry for my ignorance but I really am trying and for a seventy year old geezer I don't think I am doing to badly. My wife got a bit upset with me for being on the roof installing dishes but I am sure she will forgive me once I get this thing up and running. Thanks. FF.

Do a factory reset.
Load factory file: http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/sv360elite-factory-v0103-t33737/index.html (http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/sv360elite-factory-v0103-t33737/index.html)
Load Clean Channel File: http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/clean-channel-file-t42606/index.html (http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/clean-channel-file-t42606/index.html)
Load latest fix.
Do your settings.
Scan satellites individually.
Let us know how it’s going

Thank you both very much for your input. I will get back to you as soon as I have tried your suggestions. As for getting someone younger up there my grandson offered but if anything happened to him my life would not be worth living anyway. ;-)

Hello again. I downloaded the factory file twice but winzip claims it can't open it because it appears to be an invalid archive.

Back again. I had a minor success in that after I uploaded the bin file into the STB when I scanned echostar 7 (119W) it does not give me a failed sign.but there are still no pictures coming up. As for the rest no change.
I am beginning to suspect that I have a bad port on the disecq switch for the complete failure of Nimiq 1-3 to scan. I will check that out with a new switch. As for doing a factory reset I tried that and all that happened was a small box popped up with four hyphens --- in it but nothing else changed. Is it possible that the factory file that Ledge advised me to try can be fixed so that it can be unzipped. Thank you both once again. FF.

I don't know why you get that error. I just downloaded the file V0103 and it was fine.
You need to get that file loaded in order for things to function properly.
Once you get that figured out, then post your antenna settings.
Also post your lnb brands and models.

I downloaded the factory file twice more but winzip gave me the same error message each time. I tried once again using Winzip Classic to extract the file and this time it extracted, and I now have it on my USB stick. :-) My next problem arises in that you say I must do a factory reset before entering any files into the STB. When I go to the factory reset menu and click on it I do not get the menu like what's shown in the manual asking if it is ok to erase all data. Instead i get a small box with ---- in it like it is asking me for a pin number or something. I click on OK but nothing happens. :-(
I checked the diseq switch by swapping around a couple of cables but nimiq 1-3
remained at, S 67 and 0 q.
There are no brand names on my LNBs All it says is: KU band circular LNB. LO 11.25GHz. Input: 12.20-12.75. NF. 0.5 DB (typ)GHz. I will post my antenna setting as per your request once I sort out the factory reset and factory file upload. Thanks again.

I'm sorry but right after I posted my last note I had to leave town for a couple of days and I have only just got back and seen your post with the kind offer of live help.

Hello again. Well it seems like I fnally have some success of sorts despite a couple of anamolies which I can't explain. I finally got the STB to do a factory reset by entering a parental code of 0000. I then uploaded the factory file and the clean channel file. I then uploaded the latest fix file. I then individually scanned the sats starting with 119. It scanned fine. I then scanned 110. It scanned in what seemed to be a correct fashion right up to the end but then said "failed". 91 was showing a S of 67 and a Q of 0. I attempted a scan anyway but it did not seem to pick up any channels and said "failed" I then did 82 which scanned just fine. Despite the failed scans I seem to have access to every channel in the all the line ups including a full EPG when using the Echostar package. However the EPG does not work with the BEV package but the channels come in just fine. Can anyone give me advice on this? My next project is to try and get the PVR functional. I have a 500 GB external hard drive I intend to use for the PVR . I read in here that any hard drive you hook up to the STB should be formatted first in Fat 32 file system. However when I try to format the HD on the computer it only gives me the option to format in NTFS file system. Anybody have any suggestions? I would also like to thank Al Bundy and Ledge once again for their previous attempts to help me. FF

FF, I don't have this stb, but I had the same problem with the HD on my CS7100. I couldn't get my pc to format it. What I did was to have the stb format the drive. I'm not sure, and anyone else out there can correct me, but on the 7100, I plugged in the HD to the box, went to menu, utilities, USB, format, then hit OK. You'll probably get a warning saying "This will delete any information you have on the drive". Hit "OK".
I would guess your stb would have something similar.
P.S. If you get this to work, please let me know what you think of this box. I'm contemplating getting one. Thanks.

I just checked the user manual for the elite 360, on page 39, it tells you how to format using the stb. It looks similar to what I said above. Hope this works.

Thank you for the input. Will give it a go. What size hard drive did you use?

On a SonicView 360 Elite, to format an external HD, do the following :
Press Menu -> PVR -> USB Drives-> OK
-> Press Green RCU Button to format
Confirm that yes is checked and press OK
when the 4 dashes OSD show up, Press 0000
Confirm that all data will be destroyed = Yes -> OK
Select Files system = left/right arrow to select EXT2 (for recording)
down one arrow to highlight Format Start, press OK
Wait for it to finish showing the Volume Format OSD
When you get the OSD showing Format OK!, press OK
You are now done formatting the HD... and it's now usable for PVR
