Sonicview 8000 help please

Now that i've got your attention, don't be mad, i just need some help. This is my very first receiver and just trying to learn to set it up. Downloaded files that I need, i think. tv is black though, sound only and missing some channels...any ideas, any help, any suggestions?

also read the blue stickes right in this forum at the top on how to load the bin and how to set up your stb..also you will need make sure autoroll is on the get the new d!sh keys that are changing 4 or 5 times a day..

first off your thread title is very misleading. those type of things only get you in trouble in forums in general. A simple thread title would get you just as much help just as fast.

now audio and no video...well you either have a video cable plugged in wrong or you have your receiver set to the wrong resolution for video.

RE:missing channels? what channels are you missing? If you mean HD channels on DN then they are not missing but you need to have the 8psk module installed in order to receive those

the following are instructions for apparently the sonicview 8000, however on my receiver, there is no such thing as system settings>user options????
I don't quite get why

Go to Menu
* Set autoroll to off under system settings -> user options
* While in menu, under install (first tab) enter 7890
* CODE will come up at the bottom of the list
* Scroll down to code then click OK
* Look for Cas < Nagravision>
* Dish 01 01 00
* Scroll down to line 10 and 11 for Keys 0
* Scroll down to line 20 and 21 for keys 1

you downloaded the latest bin but did you install it on the box? check your version info and see if it says it has the latest bin number installed

Press "menu"
Then scroll right to "settings"
Then scroll down to "user options"
Then turn autoroll on.
Then read, read, and read some more......:)

Sorry to butt in.......besides verifying the unit, it sounds like the factory file has not been loaded or has been corrupted.

maybe you are right, factory corrupted, because i just went to turn it on again and the resolution on the start up menus etc, has changed, very grainy icons, hard to read, etc...i feel like i've been had already!

any way you could help?

so i've downloaded the factory files once again and yes the receiver is working again, kinda...black screen with most channels, how do i download keys... was trying to get bev channels up and running. i understand where they are on here, but how do i get them on to the receiver, i don't understand

since i still don't have options to set autoroll, still doesn't show up on the receiver, how do i set up the keys

well I lost...posted how ya change the keys...ya have to be doing something wrong cause no one else is posting this...and no one is posting they have no key change option...and the bev keys not changed since they released the newest bin for this stb so AR should work.....I don't think that you have the stb set up proper for all the settings and I don't have one so ya best to read more here as to what those settings are

do a factory reset/default...

use the loader and the cable to load the (loader > http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/sv-hd8000-loader-t27666/index.html )

load the latest factory file to ur receiver twice http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/hd8000-factory-20080108-t24982/index.html

then load the latest file http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/hd8000-v0282p-beverly-t31358/index.html

setup antenna and scan...

let it sit on a strong channel and keys will roll ...no need to enter keys

autoroll is in 2nd tab under user options, sometimes you will get blank screen with sound but just wait picture will come

factory reset...this option i don't understand because it obviously needs a password? which I don't have.

second tab (settings) the sub headings are:

user settings
a/v settings
time settings
parental control

third tab: usb self explanatory

fourth tab misc.

no where in the first two tabs is auto roll... what am I missing?

Parental control would be "0000"
Did you try what Nokia suggested?
Have you tried a factory reset and reload the factory bin?

just press 7890 after you hit menu. Then "code " will appear below "factory reset"

I repeat... Did you do what Nokia Suggested? Did you do a factory reset and reload the factory bin?

ok figured out from another thread that my factory reset is 2242, so i just did that and I'm gonna load all the files once again, one at a time, each time formatting my usb drive, loading one file at a time starting with the loader

Cool beans.......Unless you change it, your default pass code
is "0000".
So once you get done, press menu, then scroll right to "settings", then "user options" should be at the bottom. Let us know.

everyone keeps saying to go to user options, but in "settings" there is no user options for me, it's user settings and in user settings there is no auto roll. Here is what i just did: took my usb stick with the first file:

Downloader_v0201.zip "uploaded" it says..writing....

next, took my usb stick with file : HD8000_FACTORY_20080108.zip

uploaded to receiver

next file : HD8000_V0282P Beverly FIXED 03-20-08.zip

receiver rebooted

did a sat scan for channels.... 406 in total, but all have a $ sign next to them except for a few (fta)

I'm going cross - eyed, feel like i've spent all this money on two receivers both sonicview, and it's been a waste... must be me, i must be missing something.... need a break, my kids need me... thanks for trying to help me out, will try again!

No. Plus your box is scanning the correct amount of channels for sat 91 (406).

just came back, my computer doesn't have a slot for the kind of connection provided with the receiver...grrrrrr, i'm destined to fail!

no it doesn't ask for a password, only at factory reset and parental lock does it ask for a password

menu transparency
information timeout

etc.... as you can see has nothing to do with what we are looking for. I have now gone through every single option, and i'm about to go mad, i tell ya.

oh my god!!! i'm sitting here, the tv has been on for hours, just heard it all of a sudden ...went over to check all channels working WTF!! mysterious...cause I didn't do anything at all!

This is what i'm wondering. Most factory files do not include a key section, why ...FTA does not need it. Now try to load the latest file again. Well that answers that. Enjoy your toy and write things down for next time.

the other night the tv sat on one of the channels with strong signal for hours and nothing happened, last night it came on but took awhile as well, but somehow all of a sudden user options were there...thanks for your help, gonna try to do the same for sonicview 4000 ....
