Hi
So I loaded the newest bin and uploaded the file and did a hard reboot at the back as I have always done with each file and never had any issues; however this time it got stuck saying it was booting so when I turned it off after about 10 minutes stuck on booting it didn't even say it was powered on. I can see the green light at the back, but the front display only shows a little orange timer icon when I hit a button on the receiver or console. Is there a way to correct this so that the SV8000 will power on and reboot so that I can get the menu functions again and hopefully the channels back. Any help is always appreciated

Have you tried loading the Factory File man?
You will need to load it via CABLE way and using a loader.
You can find the loader and latest version Factory file all in the files section.
If that works then you can proceed by loading the current file right after that
Good Luck

I can't get my menu up so how do I load anything onto my console? TV just shows up as blank? As for a new USB stick how would that work if I can't access the menu to upload any files? Sorry I'm still new at this and try to read as many threads as possible so if anyone knows how I can bring up the menu to upload these file recommendations I would appreciate any help

if you have not tried this do so, remove your USB then try rebooting, with nothing plugged into your USB slot on your STB, should power on, worked for me with same problem your having

Next attempt
1) make sure you are using s-video cables OR composite cable
2) format USB, load ONLY FACTORY FILE
3)turn off stb, inset USB stick
4) hold down OK button on stb, flip ON rear switch
5) let go of OK button if you see file menu
If that doesn't work try holding the Menu button, now do you see green lights on the board, if not the power supply is dead and needs repair.

Nothing! I went to a satelite repair shop and they recommended that I plug my receiver directly into my PC and upload the factory file only. I have no idea how to use an uploader when connected to the PC so could I trouble someone for a step by step on how to use the uploader and which factory file I should use to attempt this. Sorry I never had a problem with my SV8000 and so I'm unfamilar with setting this all up. I appreciate everyones tips and suggestions on helping me

The downloader can not find my STB. Not certain if my serial connect on my PC is working so I'll get an adapter for USB port to connect the serial. Green light at the back comes on and the little orange clock does to on the display but this receiver just does not want to function properly. Let you know tomorrow how this turns out. Thanks again to everyone

depending on your version of windows you may need to select the pro in advance options.

nothing works. I installed a proper usb serial adapter and the up loader version I downloaded on this site recognizes it yet when I connect it says STB not recognized and does nothing. I don't know what else to do????????? Does anyone know of anyone in the 705 area code that could fix this for me. I've tried all your suggestions and bought any necessary parts to do this on my windows XP and the STB is not recognized and so the file transfer is not happening. I do appreciate all the advise I think though I need a professional to kick it back in gear

So I took my receiver in and the reason none of your great tips were working is because apparently a chip blew out. So it is being repaired and I should have it back in a few days. Thanks for all the help

Maybe you could ask your repair person to return the blown chip to you so maybe you could give us a pic of it and it's location.
Thanks

Don't let that blown chip stop you from being prepared for the future man. That USB-Serial cable may yet come in handy some time in the future.
Always have handy on your computer:
The Latest version Loader
The latest version Factory file
And make sure you have the proper cable. Its a NULL MODEM cable. It connects together with you USB-Serial cable
Also make sure you did all you needed to do to get that USB-Serial cable working properly. Read into this link below as it pertains very important information about it:
http://www.dssgeeks.com/forums/usb-serial-com-t29127/index.html
Read all the posts in that link and follow it
I just hope the repair guy isn't playing games with you by saying its something its not.

I have the same problem on mine, USB and Serial ports went dead where did you get your receiver repaired? Is it not under Sonicview warranty? if so can Sonicview accept to repair it even if it has a non factory image on it?
