Adult programing is open and a limited opening of PPV at certain times. The Nano2 is designed to work as an IKS receiver using internet access. The receiver needs a constant always on Internet connection to work with IKS. This makes high speed dsl and cable Internet options ideal for your connection. The receiver will work fine with slower 56K modems and ISDN however a dedicated line is required or else your phone service would be interrupted. If you pay for per minute usage charges for your Internet connection, that could be very expensive and is not recommended. If using Dialup however, you will need to setup your PC with Internet Connection sharing and connect your receiver's Ethernet port to your PC's ethernet port using a crossover ethernet cable, unless you already have this setup and use a router, switch or hub to connect other devices. Speeds over 28 kbps should be sufficient as you need only download a small segment of code from the server at periodic intervals. Using a 56k modem connection is not recommended unless you have a seperate line or willing to give up the phone. Cost of the receiver is usually around $180 US.

WOW !!! Thanks a million...:-) I was hesitating on either Solaris Kbox or Nano ....I already have a Nova ( no longer supported on IKS) So My last question would be...Which one would you buy considering they are all IKS ?
My concern is sudden dropped support Like my Microyal, Coolsat 5K and now my NOVA... within the last 4 years. Is conaxsat a trusted outfit ? BTW I do have a dedicated phone line just for IKS. Thanks again

As long as there are receivers being built and sold there will be support. 4 years of testing should have dictated that to you. There is no such thing as a "trusted outfit" in testing. It all could go any day caused by any different event that may disrupt code efforts. Bottom line is that it is a crap shoot with no certain outcome just because one bought a receiver.

Personally I'd go with Solaris or K box.
The new file CNX put out buggered the dongle on my mini so now must find an alternative and I'm not buying another dongle for $100+. Nano 2 doesn't use a dongle but the new file is giving people problems as well. I have a solaris that runs like clockwork no problems at all. |
